What are the lyrics to the Greece National Anthem? I heard that the Greece National Anthem was 158 lines or something like that. So when I looked on Google, it had the anthem only about twenty lines long. I don't know if it's the same anthem, or if something is wrong, but I really want to know what the lyrics are! Please help!
How do you feel about foreigners changing the language of our National Anthem? At the rallies planned for May 1st,2006, those protesting on behalf of illegals in this country will sing the national Anthem in Spanish. As open minded as I am, I must draw the line here. It's like the German Anthem being sung in Turkish, or the English Anthem being sung in Hindi. While all those who are in our respective countries legally are welcome, they shouldn't expect/try to change the laws, language or culture of the citizens whose roots have been planted here many generations ago.If you come here legally, you're welcome-but you should accept the culture and language of the land in which you live.Again, what do you think? Please keep it clean!
Why is the National Anthem sung at baseball games like it was a pop ballad? Some mediocre pop singer stands there and does vocal calisthenics while the people in the stands are silent. Shouldn't the National Anthem be sung by all the people? I can't imagine people in England or France being mute while God Save the Queen or the French national anthem was played. Why does that happen here?
Are you required to stand for the national anthem? Say you're at a public event like a conference and the it begins with the national anthem? Are you supposed to stand? I think that it's personal choice, but my mother thinks it's required. Just to clarify, I always stand when it is being played, my mom just thought it was required.
Is it rude to take a few pictures during the national anthem? Hi. I am in jrotc (marine). I am in color guard. This is my first time doing any of this because now I am in 9th grade (freshmen). But I wanted my mom or someone else to take a few pictures of me while I am doing the color guard on the football field during my high schools game. The band will be playing the national anthem, and I wondered if it was rude to take picture during the anthem. If it is I will tell my mom or who ever to not take any. Thanks for and help/info you can give me. lavadog you do not get what I am saying. I am in rotc, and I do color guard my question is that, if i was out on a field performing, whould it be rude for my mom to take a picture of me while the national anthem is playing, my god read!
How can you describe a national anthem? Actually i am going to compare the morning assembly of our school. We have to say a few words on the national anthem and its speciality. So how can you describe it in beautiful words?
What is the ettiquette for the National Anthem if it is included in a fantasia? I will be conducting a "Broad Stripes and Bright Stars" a medley of patriotic pieces from "Johnny has Gone for a Soldier" and "Yankee Doodle". It includes a rendition of the National Anthem (not the traditional military style march but very orchestral). Does the audience have to stand for the rendition of the National Anthem or not? It's doesn't come quite at the end of the piece so if the audience stands, there will be a lot of standing around.
How long is our national anthem? does our national anthem "The Star-Spangled Banner" only consist of the first verse of Francis Scott Key's Poem? Or is it the whole thing and just that the first verse is the most famous and the verse usally sang?
Who would like to see the National anthem replaced with something more appropriate? All the other nations within the UK have their own anthem but the English have British National Anthem. What do you think and how could we get it changed and furthermore what would choose as the Nation song? Welsh, Scotland even Northern Ireland have their own anthem, not the English though. I am not a traitor to my country. It just seems that again the English are forfeiting an Identity. Nothing to do with belonging to the Union of which I agree.
How was the Star Spangled chosen for our national anthem? My mother (now 90) told me that as a student she had voted on whether the Star Spangled Banner or America the Beautiful would be our national anthem. I'm wondering if this is how it was really chosen and how old she was at the time. Were all school age kids allowed to vote? She attended grades 1-12.
When the National Anthem is sung while you are playing your game, do you stop play? This may not belong in the tennis section, but it happened to me on the tennis courts this weekend, so I can’t be to far off. While playing in a fun mixer on Saturday, the National Anthem started to be sung at a swimming event less than 100 feet away. I could see the flag waving in the light breeze and felt like I should stop play and face the flag. What is the proper flag etiquette in this situation?
Why is the National Anthem performed like a pop ballad at baseball games? It's the National Anthem, folks. Everyone is supposed to sing it, not just stand there mute listening to it sung (mostly badly) by a B-level pop singer who's just trying to show off his/her vocal calesthenics. What's the benefit of this and why don't they just play a recording of it, put the words on the Jumbotron or whatever it's called and all the Americans in the stands sing their own National Anthem. I'm trying to imagine an event where they play the French National Anthem and no one sings but a performer. It's disrespectful and silly. Okay, the question is: If we are all patriotic Americans, why can't we all sing the National Anthem together?
Do you cover your heart at the national anthem? I was always taught that you cover your heart during the pledge of allegiance to the U.S. Flag. It signifies your vow to it's principals etc. Am I missing something? What pledge are you making while listening to the National Anthem? I might have missed something in my 61 years. Or is it just another ploy by disgruntled hilliarites to find an insignificat charge to ATTEMPT a character assinatation. Something she wouldnt recognize if it hit her in her facade of emotion face.
Is it appropriate for a public high school orchestra in America to perfrom the Israeli National Anthem? My public high school orchestra which is located in the United States is scheduled to perform 'Hatikvah', the national anthem of Israel, at a large, public performance in New York City. Do you feel that this is an appropriate performance piece? Consider the controversial political and religious implications of the piece and the performing group. Thanks for your feedback. For reference, here are the lyrics to this piece: As long as deep in the heart, The soul of a Jew yearns, And forward to the East To Zion, an eye looks Our hope will not be lost, The hope of two thousand years, To be a free nation in our land, The land of Zion and Jerusalem.
Obama: What does our National Anthem have to do with religion? I will not vote for someone who refuses honor our National Anthem. It is a slap in the face to this country and all it stands for. The flag is one issue, but the Anthem? There is no religious reference. Is Obama capable of separation between church and state? Hmm... something is backwards about that question.
Do you think that the Mexicans should be allowed to sing the National Anthem in Spanish? I do not think they should be able to sing the National Anthem in Spanish. This is AMERICA!! We speak English here, always have, and (hopefully) always will. The immigrants who came here 100 years ago had to learn English and were happy to come to this country. They learned our customs and our language. On most all instructions that you read for anything (appliances, toys, computers) there is more than just English on it. That needs to stop. If you want to live in this country, don't do it illegally and you need to learn our language!! When we go to other countries, we have to learn their language.
Do you think Americans showed class by not causing a brawl while the national anthem was being booed? I thought the Americans in attendance at the fight was very, very classy but not punching the guy next to him that was booing the national anthem. I was at my home and I almost threw a shoe at my TV when I saw all of those people booing the National Anthem here in America. In any other country, I guaranteed that you would not have walked out of the building unharmed if you flew to their country and booed their national anthem.
how do you feel about changing your national anthem? how do you feel about changing the national anthem in another language. im not american, but im not one of them either -- and i am against it. i think immigrants are considered guests here, and therefore they should be the ones to adjust and work around the culture, and not the country working around them. i don't know why a lot of people are fighting for this. the people from my country are keeping a low profile in this country, we know better not to cross any boundaries. i just wonder why other people don't think like this... it's as if they want to take the whole country and make it their own. what do you think?
